    Default Method Shaving Video!

    I was whatching this video and thinking that this is the opposite of what i looked for when embrassing wet shaving (1st with a DE now with a Straight Razor)!! One of the reasons was to "slow down" a little.. to relax! With this method i will get with stress and the day is starting! And i cannot imagine myself doing this after a hard day at work!..not to mention my face will be on fire for the next couple of days..or i would need a skin transplant (since i'm a "Newbie")!
    I believe the products are good! But this "method" doesn't fit for me.. not to metion the consequences of doing that with a straight razor (was mentioned in the video that this could also be done with a straight)..!

    What are your thoughts about it? Have you try (the "method")? Does it work for you?

    I tend to use the Method routine from time to time. Its not as long and complicated as one thinks. If you do decide to use a brush, you should use something along the lines of a Chubby 3. Thats what I use.

    With a DE or a Str8? And you don't get cut, or razor burns?..and you don't get with "stress" after that?
    I "found" this video because i was looking to improve my shaving "time"! I spent 40 minutes with the pre-shaving, shaving and pos-shaving..and i wanted to do it in 20 min..during the business days - but i dont want to be less than this..or like this video shows..! Maybe its not so complicated, but i get with stress just watching it!

    (Wow a Chubby #3! Best or Super?..they both are very very nice ones!)

    At the present time I use a straight razor five days a week and a Gillette Fatboy DE on Tuesday and Wednesday when I go to work. I am a pediatrician and O-Dark-30 hours on those two days do not lend themselves to the relaxation of a straight razor shave. I'll focus on Tuesday and Wednesday.
    * Shower
    * During the shower brush is in hot water
    * Post shower load brush with shaving soap
    * Form shaving cream in a large coffee cup with some hot water
    * Lather face
    * First pass WTG using Feather blades
    * Relather
    * Second pass XTG using Feather blades
    * Warm water cleaning
    * Ice water splash
    * Finish
    This produces an outstanding shave.

    Its a well made video. Some of the ideas are pretty good. I use some of them and they are very similar.

    For example, I use a base of ordinary soap.

    I'd don't have the skill to move a DE like that but I probably could, but then I would have to buy the products I think. For me shaving has never been about expensive or propietary products.

    I think the two big epiphanies in cutting down on shaving time is that prep is important and that 500 strokes are not required. Two strokes, one N/S and one E/W, if done properly, should be plenty.

    Man, I couldn't see myself doing that every morning. IMO, it's waaaaay too much.

    Wow that was fun to watch. I don't use that many strokes in a week of shaving. I was inpressed with the speed without cuts, I think he does have a good point on being dry as a major factor in getting cut.

    I've never used a DE-- is it typical to do so many passes? He must have done dozens against any piece of skin in that video.

    I do 3 with the straight and get BBS.

    That seemed like a lot of work just to get a close shave. He's certainly enthused about the process. But my god man, that's a lot of effort for a good shave. I suppose I shouldn't knock it until I try it. But some things I don't have to try to know I won't like it.
