Wink I need a little More help here on Current TV

Not a lot of green lights.

I have gotten some great suggestions though.

This is what a real straight razor shave looks like. This %100 authentic no camera tricks no fooling around just straight up what it looks like. Why is that important? Because I can only think of 3 other movies ever made that actually depict this subject. 1. Thomas Edison 1900 2. Billy West ( I haven't seen it) 3. Lynn Abrahms ( a man with over 15 years of shaving and honing experience ) So if you ever thought about what it would be like to shave with an old fashion Straight Razor as they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Looks good, it would be better with a commentary describing what is going on, why you are doing the different steps and for the people on the list, details on what the brush is, what soap you are using, whatever else comes to mind. I would think something like the commentary that is on DVDs, obviously voiced over after :-) The more information you can give people, the better, the splashing water, while it sounds cool, doesn't add to the video as much as a commentary would. As it is, I don't see anyone who has not shaved with a straight getting much useful out of it.

I would definitely put the url for more information on straight shaving somewhere too (http://straightrazorpalace.com/).

I agree with Andrew...Needs commentary or alot of education is lost. I would loose the water splashing, if possible. Great project! Keep it going!

    Hello Brian.

I have to agree with the above comments. A running commentary is needed. Use the music as a backround with a commentary voice over.

I do have a version with commentary that has been submitted. I actually like the commentary free version because it plays better world wide. What exactly would you like to hear?

Tell ya what. You do a commentary track on any old recording system and I'll add on. WVM MP3 Sound anything just use your windows sound recorder and I'll put it in there. I'm not good at the commentary thing.
As for the link I don't think they allow ads like links? Thanks for the criticism I hone my videos like I hone my blades. I will definitely use your comments when I go to make another version. Loose the water splashing? The whole idea was to show a real shave from begining to end. Ah and what a fine irritation free smooth with; and against the grain shave this was.

I think it's great the way it is Brian. It shows a proper straight razor shave from beginning to end. I understand the comments about a commentary, but agree that, the way it is will play better in any language and without commentary, people will be watching the shave more intensely. Great video!

really like this video! i think i would like it without the water splashing either with or without commentary! if it is primarily aimed at english speakers then commentary would be good! keep up the good work mr briandonofrio!! green lights a go-go!!

    Very interesting!

You need to watch the long dead spots, like when you're holding a towel on your face. There are ways of showing elapsed time. The viewer doesn't actually have to experience it.

From what I have watched on the channel, I did not see anything that was in any language other than english. As far as I know, Current is a US only channel, so I don't think it being only in english would be too much of an impediment. Plus, all the titles are in english, so if you want to be language free, you would have to get rid of those.

I would also think that it would be difficult for someone else to make the commentary. Although if there was a commentary that you made that you were not happy with, someone else could possibly re-record it for you. The issue is that only you know the little details, like why did you hit that spot again from that particular direction? What was it that you felt that made you want to do that? I don't know what kind of soap you are using, and why you chose to use that one, but I would be interested to know that as part of the commentary.

The way most pods I have seen on Current show something that is taking a long time is speeding up the video during that part so 5 minutes only takes 5 seconds or somesuch. Sort of like a fast forward.

Thats some great stuff Andrew I'm getting a better picture of what you think it should look like.

I think it should look like you are showing the video to a few of your friends, most with no straight razor experience, some with a little, and some that are on the list. I would expect the commentary to be what you would tell the people in that audience about what is going on. Think of the questions you think people may ask and answer them.

    Some quick ideas:
How much growth is that? How many days?
    What is a Bizmark?
Why are you holding that washcloth against your face?
    What is that brush thing?
What is that stuff you are putting on your face with that brush?
What kind of soap is that?
Is that a special kind of mug?
What kind of razor is that?
What are the benefits of using a straight as opposed to a 5 bladed battery powered gillette?

I am sure there are lots of questions to answer. Maybe someone else has some ideas?

    Some quick ideas:
How much growth is that? How many days?
Don't know about as much as in the pictures.

    What is a Bizmark?

Bismarck must be the razor I don't see any old Germans
named Otto or big ships in the video. Oh yeah and it's
    printed on the blade....

Why are you holding that washcloth against your face?
Because I'm not shaving my ass?

    What is that brush thing?
.................. Beats me but it seems to put soap on my face.

What is that stuff you are putting on your face with that brush
looks kinda like shaving stuff from the old movies?
    ?
What kind of soap is that?
    The soapy kind?

Is that a special kind of mug?
Yes very important the mug..... :-(

What kind of razor is that?
Hmm I don't have a clue try reading the mark?

What are the benefits of using a straight as opposed to a 5 bladed battery powered gillette?

I don't know that there are any for someone who can't figure
out what all the splashing is about?

If you like razors that double as a vibrator go with the Gillette.

This sounds like a test for a fith grader should it be multiple
    choice or true false?

    I have a question ..

Are you English Andrew who wrote the .PDF book or NBC morning show Andrew who told the host that DE razors were good for African Americans like himself? Just before they cut off the part where Ray's barber was going to demonstrate a straight razor shave that never happend?

Thanks for all your helpfull advice. PS The water splashing is a old family secret that only the dog knows. And he aint talkin' :-)

Lightbulb Here is that Link again Ist hier dieses Link wieder

    I need more greenlights.

Germany is the number one manufacturer
of straight razors. If not me do it for your country.

    Ich benötige mehr greenlights.

Deutschland ist der Hersteller der Nr. eine der geraden Rasiermesser.
Wenn nicht ich es für Ihr Land tun.

I still can't resist the translator and if it gives you a laff then :-)

I took one year of German in High School so I reckognize some german.
Even a lousy translation has to have some value.

Ich kann nicht dem Übersetzer noch widerstehen und wenn er Ihnen ein
    laff dann:- gibt)

Ich nahm ein Jahr des Deutschen in der High School, also reckognize
etwas Deutscher. Sogar muß eine miese Übersetzung haben

They languadges seem to have reverse syntax English puts ideas in one
direction German puts them in the reverse. German words can very long and descriptive. English we are simple.

Sie languadges scheinen, Rücksyntax Englisch zu haben einsetzen Ideen
in einen Richtung Deutschen einsetzen sie in die Rückseite. Deutsche Wörter können sehr sich sehnen und beschreibend. Englisch
    sind wir einfach.

    Peace out my brothers. ;-)
