Maybe it's just me, but the idea of paying 175 dollars for a shaving brush (that just so happens to be made out of roadkill) is a bit much - no matter who made it. I have a feeling the one I got at Wal-Mart for six bucks works just as well.

    Blade,

I know where you are coming from. But let me tell you, and I'm sure others will chime in here, it isn't! I started out with a $5.00 Surrey brush and a $1.50 cake of Williams soap. Of those two items, I have learned that the Williams soap is available at Wal Mart for .97 cents, and that the Surrey brush belongs in the garbage. You don't have to spend $175 for a good brush, but a good brush makes a huge difference. My progression went from the Surrey to an Omega Boar bristle brush (which I do still use), to a Tweezerman Badger Brush for $10.00 bucks, that my 17 yr old son now uses, to a $100 dollar Shavemac brush. I suggest that you visit www.qedusa.com, and check out the Saville Row brushes. Then, call Charles and visit with him. He is very ethical, and will offer his opinion of what might work best for you. You will be surprised when he doesn't suggest that you buy everything "top of the line". Also, you may want to check with Ray at www.classicshaving.com and get his opinion about the Vulfix brushes.

    Talking

I get the feeling that is the place where it is decided what kind of straight user one is.

a.: The Functional One (hey it works and no disposables)
    b.: The Nostalgic One (meeeeeeeemorieeeeees)
c.: The Reincarnated One (Jack the Ripper in a previous life)

Last are usually known for a huge collection of straight razors and accessories. Beware of their lures ......

    Blade,

I agree with Randy, somewhat. I got a cheap boars bristle brush at walgreens, (mykids now play with it) I then spend like $30 for a badger brush ( big improvement) then my sister sent me my fathers old silver badger brush and I love it. However at this point let me add there is no way I would spend $175 for a brush unless I hit Lotto.

I have said all along that these are heirloom quality and high end razors and products. I have hundreds of razors that I have bought from $10 to $1000. My point to you is to be happy with what YOU can afford and what you feel is practical for YOU. Thanks. Lynn

    Cool

    RIK,

Here is the information I have on the brushes. Total height cm.13 (5" 2/10). Height of the handle cm.6,5 ( 2" 6/10). Height of the hair cm. 6,5 (2" 6/10). Diameter of the base of the hair cm.2,5 (1"). It is possible to put the initials on the plate to the base of brush. They are ready for order now. Let me know if any other questions.

    Thanks.

    Lynn

    Lynn,

Thanks for the specs. I would have to say that after seeing the materials this brush is created with, it's worth every penny. Now I just have to start saving some up for one.
