Hello
This is my first post, just wanted to say hello to everyone. I am just discovering straight razor shaving. I don't have a razor yet, I'm still in the "find out all I can" stage, so I'm looking forward to reading all the information here. Been searching the net for info and came across this site. Seems like a good group, I look forward to talking to everyone.

Welcome Pappy! I'm new to this as well, and you have found a great place. These guys are very helpful, especially when I'm sure they have been asked the same10-15 questions hundreds of times.

Welcome Pappy! Be sure to check out the Help Files. There's lot's of great information there. As far as questions go ... the one you ask might be the one the mext guy was trying to come up with or the thing somebody else hasn't even thought of yet. It's one of the things I like most about this forum. People sharing traditional knowledge in a communal manner.

Welcome aboard Pappy!
You'll find that there are quite a few of us who are beginning this journey. You have stumbled upon a wealth of information and a very generous group of guys.
I'd strongly recommend that when you are ready to give er a go, your first razor come from one of honing experts here. It's extremely important that you start your shaving experience with a razor that has been properly prepared with a keen edge.

Thanked: 2209Welcome!
For vintage gear check out the Gallery > Gear for sale and other folders in the Gallery. Also the classifieds and the forum titled Buy/Sell/Trade.
Make sure that what you buy is shave ready(honed and shave tested).
For a comprehensive offering of new gear go to www.classicshaving.com.
The owner, Ray, is a member in good standing here and also check out his articles on razors and shaving. Good stuff. Ray has the SRP club razor for sale if your looking to start out with a first class, limited edition, serial numbered straight razor. Ask him about availability.
Whatever you do please do not buy a cheap import! They cannot be made shave ready. If you want us to comment on a proposed purchase then just post a message and URL here. We will be glad to help.
Have a good day!Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
