O/T: Barber shop bathroom
So its been about three months since I started shaving and its not going great but then I am loving every shave even the bad ones. this is my thought I just built a new bathroom and its pretty big so now I shave there. so I was thinking if I change the theme of the bathroom to a vintage barbershop. so this is when I ask what would you have if you could have a private barbershop in your house.
Any help will be great because I can build almost anything but ideas run short.

You've got to have some sort of a barber chair in there! It might be tough to find one, but if you can build a good imitation that would be very cool. A nice display/storage case for your gear would be a nice piece too, but you'd want to have some way to prevent humidity if you're going to keep razors in there.

Since you're going to be shaving just yourself, chair might take too much real estate to justify it. But you know what you want.
For myself, nice mirror would be nice, either a half-wall one (from desktop up), one of those triple ones with movable sides (you can get nice sideview with those) or one of those swing-arm shaving mirrors. A sturdy hook to hang your strops and something to dry your towels (I would opt out of the barberpole for a nice, heated towelrack).
I liked the idea of keeping small clean handtowels rolled up on a tray (as seen in the shave den thread).
Place to keep razors, brushes, soaps, creams etc is always a plus.

Thanked: 259it would also be nice if you could find one of those towel steamers that used to be in old barber shops. if you look in the video section here there is a video of a shop where the barber uses one. also i would want a cubby whole shelf for quite a few shaving mugs on the wall. each mug having its own scent and type of shave soap. good luck with the venture and be sure and let us know how it goes, pictures would also be great

nice idea
well the chair is what I really thought would make the room, but hopefully there is a way to squeeze it in. what is a heated towel rack and how would it work. the mug wall is an idea that really makes me go wow but I just don't enjoy the look of standard mugs is there anyone with a different way of keeping the soaps.

Thanked: 259the towel steamer was more of a round ball that was on a stand about 4 foot tall. the top lifted up and the towels were stored inside. i guess it was plugged in and water was placed in the bottom that created the steam. like i said check out the videos here, there is one of an old shop and one of the steamers in it

well this might not be the best idea but you could make the barber chair as the toilet if it wont be used for cutting hair. it would also be the most comphy toilet in the world and would make you the envy of the neighborhood.
on a serious note a small barber poll would be cool with a hot towel/lather despenser. or maybe a barber shop sigh on the bathroom door and when you walk in have all of your shaving stuff on display but just make sure the razor displays are water tight so they dont get moisture in there. good luck and we need pictures when you are done.

Heated towel rack is a thingamabob of parallel, bent pipes that are heated by the water used in the sink (needs some work with plumbing) or electricity (more suitable to ready rooms). Such thing is pictored below.
However, this is pure luxury. I would be happy with unheated one too. My towel doesn't really dry out when hanging from one corner.
