Thanked: 1Neener Neener
I cannot believe that I scored this razor. It was one of 8 that I put a bid on and won for a paltry $26. That's all 8 for $26. I'm sure I don't have to tell most of you what this one is worth.

I snagged one of those too, Depews. I had to go $41 though. Still waiting for it to show up. I love that extra long monkey tail, old school! Not part of a collection though, it does have it's box.

Anyone care to explain its sought-afterness?

Thanked: 2209The monkey tail is not common. The general shape of the entire blade is more flowing than the regular razors, the etching on the blade face and its small size. All combined, its an attractive piece that is seldom seen.

Thanked: 0That's an awesome looking razor, Bill! You got 7 more just like it for the $26? Or are they all assorted?

Thanked: 1Wow! I wish! But I am thrilled with just one. 8 and I could have taken a trip to the Bahama's.
Here's how the auction pic looked. It is the top left razor:
And this was the description:
I put these into a display case but it doesn't come with them because the glass front wouldn't survive shipping.I just had to have these at a backwoods Vermont auction, now I know two thing, razors are a specialty area you can't learn about in an hour on the internet and two, these babies are sharp. It's clear I am not a razor guy but I will try to clearly describe them. For starters the cases are in varying condition and the fourth razor case has the end cover missing. From top to bottom in the picture they are 1. DePews THE Perfect Razor. 2. instanter (with crowns on both sides of the word) 3.#156 The Barber, J.Torrey & co. 4. T.Noonan & sons Co. The Black Demon(my personal favorite name, funny that the handle is tan?) 5. The J.R.Torrey Co. U.S., this one has a poorly installed replacement hinge pin and someone scratched up the blade pretty good. 6. corrosion makes the blade words unreadable but there are three C's on the thin end of the blade and the celluloid handle has asmall end piece missing. 7. George ostenholm and sons with an long leprchaun pipe on the blade and the hinge point of the blade, this one has been sharpend until some of the words are worn out and has some corrosion. The last razor is a Gilette pocket safety razor in a well worn case and finally there is a hand held leatherstrop I believe it is called

Thanked: 0Hello!
How did you find out about auctions in Vermont? I live in the northwest corner of VT and it seems estate sales / auctions are hard to find because they are not advertised too well. Any hints?
