Hi there, I'm back again!
Hi there everyone,
I haven't been around for quite a while. Looking at my post history it seems I didn't visit for about a year - it seems like much less though!
I started a new job about 18 months ago, and the hours were insane. On top of my working day, some weeks I had to drive for 6 hours a day every day to where I was working, other weeks I had to stay away from home in cheap hotels (or campsites to save money). So I had no time to shave with a straight any more*, and also less time to surf the internet and contribute to the forum.
* I know that's a bit of a cop-out, but it's not good trying to use a straight at 3am when you're still half asleep, then spending a 3 hour drive trying to stem the resulting blood before a meeting!
Anyway, the good news (or is it bad news??) is that I now have more free time, as I've had my contract terminated as a result of the recession.
I'm looking for a new contract every day, but the situation has also let me unwind a little from my mad life of late. I have time to walk my daughter to and from school each - which is nice. I also have time to do a little exercise each day, so hopefully my weight will start coming back down again, 18 months of living on the road and eating at gas stations / truck stops has sadly taken its toll!
Anyway, I've started reading the forums again, and its great to see lots of the old faces are still here - as well as loads of really enthusiastic new faces too.
I don't have much money at the moment, but have decided to jump back in with what I feel is a sensible yet not excessive setup, by ordering a new 2.5" strop from Tony Miller, and a new 'Le Grelot' from Martin at Rasurpur. I'm a bit gutted I sold all my old exotica, I wish I still had my Maestro's, my RW, my Tim Z etc, but one razor will have to do for now - at least until I can get another contract and start earning again.
Anyway, enough sentimental rubbish from me - onwards with the shaving banter!

I'm a telecommunications engineer for secure EMS radios (Govt, Fire, Police, Ambulance etc.) in the UK. That was my last contract anyway, my next will hopefully be something similar.
