I hope so. Then again, if not... More goodies for people our age in the future. Always good to meet another student.

Thanked: 143Gee, everyone who started after 30 is lumped together?
Does this go back to my youth where the mantra was "never trust anyone over 30"?
Let me tell you, as a group we are about as trustworthy as anyone.

Thanked: 2
I was 46 (this summer) when I started. I wasn't aware that the items were still available to shave this way.
I started DE shaving from the "Art of Manliness" article (How to Shave Like Your Grandfather) a couple years ago, then transitioned to straights this summer. I am 3 weeks into my winter beard, but come springtime I'll be back using my Henckel's 5/8 and Tabac again.
I found this place from Badger&Blade, and found it from the Art of Manliness article.

1970
Is when I began. Started on the advice of a Dermatologist to combat PFB. While it was good advice, there was a steep learning curve and little reference material.
Its been a good ride. Learned a lot the hard expensive way. I still have my 1st strop, an Illinois 127. It is now dedicated to Dovo Red. I still have my 1st razor in my kit too! It is the Fromm shown in the WIKI.
Enjoy!

Thanked: 13245I grew my first beard in 1981 and I heard the words of my Barber when he saw it... "What is that crap on yer face"
"Well if you are going to keep that on yer face, you need a straight edge to get straight lines"
That was shortly after my 22 birthday, now almost 30 years later I still have the beard (never really shaved it off since) and I am still using a straight edge to get straight lines... There was a brief time between about 1999-2006 that I was away from them, but other than that I have used a straight razor...

When I was in my 20s or so the idea of a straight was about as far removed as the existence of the internet and personal computers years later.
