Which Dovo?
My dear USA1,
I think the wisest thing to do is to speak directly with Lynn Abrams of Straight Razor Designs. He can advise you and make all kinds of recommendations. You could not ask for a better consultant and teacher.

Which Dovo?
My dear USA1,
Another thought. You could still go with the Bismarck spike — it's too gorgeous a razor — but ask Lynn to round out the point just enough to take the bite out of the razor. One of my earliest razors was this same model and I asked Lynn to do the same thing. It was perfect.
The other razor choice you might want to consider, still from SRD, is the Dovo 5/8" "Black Star." This is a beautify. The scales are brown Pakka Wood, and the the gold wash on the razor lies on a shiny blade and a darkened shank. I have this razor, too, and loved its looks.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 0Thanks to all. I think I will buy the bone blade and have Lynn round it off. I have decided to find a local store to feel it out first before buying (if possible). Thanks again to all!!!

Any Dovo will be a great start to straight shaving. I have just a simple 5/8 Bismarck, with a nice rounded point.
