    Default Reading Wikipedia

Just for fun, I decided to read over the wikipedia article on Straight Razors.

For the most part it holds what to me seems to be pretty solid information on razors themselves. Has several types of points listed, modern manufacturers, some history, general info on straight razors, even the angles to shave at and the advantages over cartridge razors.

It does however leave out an important historical note. It mentions the downfall of the straight razors due to disposable bladed razors. Double Edge ones. It jumps straight into the realm of King Gillette without even a whiff of those single edge razors so many people enjoy, or an echo of the name Gem.

    I wonder why.

You can edit the page yourself and put something in about GEMs.

I would... but all I know is that they kind of belong in between straights and DEs

Yes but Gillette was a wiley guy who knew how to market a product and to cater to an audience and personally if he didn't exist and no one else was there in his place people would have continued using straights for a far longer period of time. There were many variations on the DE or Disposable theme that have been lost but like it or not you can blame him for the loss of popularity of the straight.

And yes if those omissions bother you, by all means add to the Wiki.

Do they? I thought the SE started just a few years before the DE, then they co-existed/competed for a while.

Yeah, I know there is some overlap on both sides, but my knowledge is spotty at best.
