Thanked: 79Your razor is OBVIOUSLY substandard, feel free to send it to me for "disposal"
Seriously though, I have 3 Henckels friodurs and like them all quite a bit, haven't tried a 5/8 one though.

I own two Henckels Zwilling Friodur 8/8 like the ones on Tony Miller's site.
They are really exceptionally good shavers and keep their edge for months! That's why I have two of them. The honing was not too difficult, though I had to remove a wire edge from the second one after buying it. Now they are REAL twins ("Zwillinge").
Best regards

Martin,
They are nice razors. I don't have any listed right now but a shipment is on the way of 7/8 Friodurs. I use a both 7/8 round and a square point each week in my rotation.
I am slowly disposing of my smaller 5/8 razors as I add new larger ones. John Crowley's website is a virtual playgound for big razor fans. Lots of choices there from a variety of interesting makers.

Sent my Henckels to Lynn
Well, I sent my Henckels Friodur to Lynn today. I am eager to see how it performs upon return.
In the mean time, and before one of Tony's Hen & Roosters shows up at my door, I still have my Crabtree & Evelynn Solingen (I bet it's a three pin Dovo). It was my first; it was cheap; it remains scary sharp after all these years.
Regards to all,
Library Guy

Hi, Tony,
I am sorry, but I mixed up your site with John Crowley's site.
My Zwilling razors can be found there.
On your site I especially love the presentation of the razors, really good photographic work! I love browsing through your SRP photographs, too.
Best regards

Well I woke up this morning and decided to step down a notch and took the NOS Friodur to the 5k/8k for a round, then to the 8k/15k for another 3/5 /2/5 1/5 1/5 1/5. It seemed better on the thumb, so I hit the balsa hones with .5 and .25 paste. Stropped and pulled a hair out of the brush.
FINALLY!!!! I now have a shave ready Henckels Friodur. Off to shave now. Will report in SOTD.
