eBay Item Analysis - Puma No. 39 6/8
Group,
I've been thinking about acquiring a vintage razor for my modest collection. I've been looking for a Dubl Duck or a Puma. I found this Puma out on eBay. If anyone cares to take a look I would greatly appreciate any comments or feedback provided.
Also, please provide your best estimate(s) of the going value for a razor such as this. Thanks!

I think I would stay away from this one. As I said in a post on the other SRP site it looks like it was cleaned vary agressively. If you look at where the blade meets the tang, the shoulder (the half ground section between the hollow ground blade and the tang) is almost nonexistant. On my other Puma's (I have 14) that piece is more pronounced. I personally would not buy this one. Just my opinion.

That is a really nice one. I don't know what it might go for. It could go over $125. Watch and try to get in at the end. Good luck
I have the 4/8 version of that.

Yes those watch sites are very fussy about what they will allow aren't they? Well not so here.
I think from what I can see and I'm no Puma expert though I have a couple is that your razor looks like it has seen better days. In general it looks well worn and as has been previously stated has really been scoured up in an attempt to clean it. Puma's in general are very sought after razors and though you always see them there is a real incentive to try and make them presentable. Real good ones can go for well over $200.00.
I would recommend you be patient. Eventually a good one will turn up and if several good ones turn up at the same time expecially with bad fotos you may get lucky and pinch one for a song. I got a stainless Puma that way a few months ago. There were several at the same time and the foto was bad and I took a chance and got it for a low two figure price and it turned out to be in mint condition. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
