Thanked: 0Bill Ellis' Straight Razor Restoration clinic topic suggestions....
Had a great time in my first chat here last night. Great
to see so many of you there and being so helpful with all my questions.
We discussed the idea of Bill Ellis running a weekend restoration
clinic in his workshop near Fresno, California.
I really hope this would happen and I would plan my holidays in an
attempt to be there, others also expressed interest. I believe Bill is
seriously considering the clinic if there is enough interest.
Bill asked what topics should be covered, one of his suggestions
was "learn to make scales in one hour". That is when I started to get
really excited.
Bill asked for suggestions for topics and that is why I am starting
this thread. What would you like to see if you attended? Personally I
would love to make the tools that Bill discusses on his CD and also
cover sharpening, honing and stropping as the final part of the
restoration.
Looking forward to reading what the group would like to see. Thanks, -
-Ray.
P.S. Saving my pennies for airfare already!

If Bill does have a clinic, I'd love to attend. I'm only about 4 hours north, near Sacramento. I'd like to learn how to how to repin a razor. I've tried a few times with mixed results. I think I tend to be to agressive. I know Fresno a little. I used to have a good friend that lived their that I used to visit.

I am 3,000 miles away, but if at all possible, I plan to attend. I'd like to learn how to restore a mirror finish to a blade, a matte finish if a mirror finish is not possible, a satin finish ... well, you get the idea.

Perhaps you guys who can make it will be able to do some video or even just publish the schedule and points covered, right here on the site after it's all over. So, somebody take minutes at the meeting for the rest of us.

Sure, we could tell you what goes on at a Bill Ellis training session...but then we'd have to kill you.

What's the second rule? Haw haw.
I too would like to know the closely-guarded secrets you scavegers have for resurrecting the blades you find!
