Thanked: 0My wife is still nervous about me cutting my throat, due to some spectacular nicks I got the first week. Once I got Lynn's encouragement to actually use a hone and did a little more reading on this and other sites, there's a lot less bleeding (I'm still drying off with paper towels as a precaution rather than absolute necessity.) I've gotten equally serious cuts from a M3 and even from electric shavers.
The straight razor shave is definitely a Zen experience. Adding ceremony has made shaving much easier to look forward to. I also am more ready to shave on weekends than before. Once I've really gotten up to speed (or at least reasonable shaves) I'll start taking my Merkur DE to the gym to have at least a reasonable facsimile.
Thanks to Lynn and everyone else who makes this a great site.

Thanked: 0I started out shaving with a str8 to save money. It has now become an obsession. Obsessions cost money. Oh well you only live once.

Yes, Exactly.
For example. Just before bed I decided my morning razor would be the Wade & Butcher today. It was my first thought upon waking and what followed was a precious half hour of great shaving. My face feels fantastic after the straight shave too, clean. I'll never go back.

Me, too, Rich
I got a great, close shave yesterday as well. And because today is Friday, the office environment is a little more casual so I didn't shave today. I'm kind of disappointed because I received my SRP L/E TI in the mail yesterday from it's visit to Dr. Lynn via Classicshaving.com. I wanted to shave this morning with it but decided to wait until tomorrow morning when I'll have a bit of growth to see just how good this new 6/8 TI is going to be. I can't wait!!

Jeff,
That makes perfect sense to me.
