Thread: Hooked on Straights for GOOD!

I sent my razor to Randy to get honed and had a couple days of beard growth when the razor went away. I have only been shaving with a straight for month and a half without any irritation or razor burn and haven't used a mach 3 at all since my first time using a straight. Except for the day I sent my razor off. The reason I got into straights was due to the wicked razor burn on my neck due to the mach 3. I thought I would give it one more chance (with a fresh never used blade) yesterday using all the techniques I have learned with a straight (stretching, warm clean face, brush, good soap etc.). At first I thought I got a pretty great shave(almost as good as the straight), until a little while later when my neck looked like it had a horrible case of poison oak. Today my neck is killing me and I couldn't shave again today even if I wanted to. So now I know that the straight is much better for me and my face and will never use a Mach 3 again. I can't wait to get my razor back and contiue with the good shaves, with a freshly honed razor.

I've come to the same conclusion after 6 weeks of straight razor shaving.

I had to use an M3 due to time constraints. The shave was inferior and I felt razor burn that I wasn't getting with the straight.

I've been shaving with a str8 for a little over a year. I haven't touched my m3 since I picked up the str8 for much the same reason.

Me too I like my str8's better than any mach3 and will never go back.

What's that???

Just kidding! I was an M3 user until I went the straight razor route. Won't use anything but a straight razor because nothing can compare to a shave with a straight!
