    Default W. H. Sample & Sons

Just got handed a razor (for my birthday!) a few minutes ago................

marked W. H. Sample & Sons, Capitol Razor, Albany, NY

Box is similar, and has Germany on it, too.

Razor looks to be in decent shape, nice patina, no nicks, needs some honing.

    What do I have?

    Thanks.

Looks like a good board, glad to be here to learn!

German made razors are good. Someone else will probably have more info on the history.

If this is your first straight, I would strongly recommend you ask one of the honing experts that reside here to hone it for you. It's important that you start out with a keen razor.

I just picked up a Razor that has W.H. Sample Albany N.Y. on one side of the tang the other side is blank. The Box says W.H. Sample Albany N.Y. Price 2.00 each. I was wondering the same thing. Since this is an old post thought someone may have come up with more information.
