Not everybody get's it that easy! Be prepared for a period of education. There may be times when you think that you're going backwards, but these will hopefully be outweighed by the elation of progress! Stick with it & it will reward you.

So today I did! I must say, it was very discouraging. The pre-shave process was nice. However, the shave it self was painful. It felt more like he was pulling the hair out than shaving it off my face. I am just curious; am I being a baby or is this not normal? To be honest I've had tattoo's that hurt less.

He used a disposable straight razor and what seemed like some kind of shaving oil from American Crew. Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance.
There's no way it should turned out that way. If anything it should be pleasant experience. But I wouldn't know because I've never had injector used on me. They say they are extremely unforgiving and very sharp.

Since you're in FL, how far are these guys from you:

I live in Jacksonville...which is a little to far too far to drive for a shave. However, I will stop in there next time I am in Miami.

I wish you the best of luck my friend. I'm only 20 and I'm sad that I put off learning as long as I did. There is a bit of a learning curve, but you will hands down get the best shave of your life once you have the skills down.

Edit: If you are looking for a set to learn on, you can't beat the set from Ken at ruprazors.com. It comes highly recommended by everyone on here, and for a very good reason.

+1, I've had a similar experience and have kept it haircuts only since then. Mine is a great hair-cutter but not a barber in the conventional sense. That's a dying breed.
