Thanked: 0Just a point, but I guess you're hoping many international sellers will read this - The use of the word "Paki" is regarded in England as a racial slur on a par with the N word, so i guess using pakistani would be better for you in case anyone gets the wrong idea.

Hi Randy,
I'm not so sure this approach is so helpful. For those who are new to ebay and interested in purchasing a good razor, IMHO, it would be less problematic to offer a favorites list of good sellers, known by SRP members as forthright individuals who offer good quality razors.

Hal,
That is probably the safest approach. Sadly though most don't find us until after they bought the wrong thing.
Even saying "stay away from eBay" has it's problems as there are several seller that do sell good items but probably even more that don't <g>.
John Crowley and myself regularly sell there as do a few of the German dealers along with several group members who have nice, ready to use razors.
It is hard reach people as even with the resources here I see many questions from Newbies that are right here in the files or links.
I hunted all over for Howard's Belgian stones and could not find a link to www.theperfectedge.com and there are many others.

How about a list of some decent name brands of razors that have been historically good performers and possible a list of bad ones. You know, like Consumer Reports has a list of "Good Bets" on used cars and a list of "Used cars to avoid." I think a list like that would help weed out the good from the bad, the only caveat is how well it was taken care of by the previous owner.
Just my thoughts.

Thanked: 0I'm a newby here too, and certainly no expert. I can pass on what little I've learned so far, though.
The problem with a list of "good" makers is that there are so many of them. There seems to be literally thousands of different names out there. Most of them are merely distributors that had the actual maker put thier name on the razor.
Some one posted before, stick with German,English and American makers/names and your odds are very good. New razors are mostly more costly than a newby may want to spend right away. The words new/razor/cheap don't gererally belong in the same sentence, IMO.
Keep reading these forums, I'm learning a lot and it's the best bargain around!
