Thanked: 37Christmas 2009 - Giveback
Loving the Christmas giveaway setup for SRP members, but just a thought here. I’m sure it’s been discussed before at some point-in-time, but how about we set up a way to give back to our troops this year. We can get a trusted person, hey Lynn, to accept funds through Paypal and in turn donate, on behalf of the members of the SRP board, the sum to an organization that supports our troops.
I suggest the USO as everyone can rest assure that there will be no partisanship as to who the money is going to or how the organization will use it.
Any support for this idea?

Thanked: 37Are you serious... I know you can give that. What I was attempting was to gather group support for something. Maybe people thinking with their wallets out insted of their hands out palms up. I know we in America are becoming rather used to the idea of receiving hand-outs but I just figured we could show our support.
With the overwhelming response, and type of response, I guess I got my answer.

Thanked: 37Wow! A lot of you people around here just drool at the opportunity to wax poetic about a variety of political issues involving the current war, our troops, and how proud you are of them. You can find the numerous threads throughout this entire board. Yet not one of you, excuse me, not two of you even express an interest in this idea? Wow, you gotta be kidding me.

How do you know the rest of us slackers and political shit talkers aren't involved in some other way? I for one am involved in the most intimate way - I wear the uniform and take vacations to parts of the world I really don't care about. I also donate through established organizations but don't feel the need to join one on this forum or any other forum for that matter..
