Have you seen one of these?
I bought this Wade and Butcher on eBay last month and I really like the way it looks. The gold does not appear to be a wash but rather plated or possibly (unlikely?) solid. It's quite heavy. Has anyone seen this model before? The blade is sandwiched between the gold material as you can see in the last photograph.

Thanked: 90All I can say is "Wow, that's some razor!"
What'd it set you back, if you don't mind me prying?

I love the scales and the gold is amazing, but the design looks clumsy to me, like the blade is in danger of coming loose off the spine, or that the spine is too thick to get the right edge on the razor. No offense, but it looks weird to me, nice, but . . . different.

Thanked: 1Is there a tiny screw in the tip? If so, it is a removable blade. I'm going to guess horn scales. Think the gold is brass that has been cleaned up?

Thanked: 4942Framebacks are very cool and usually produce a wonderful shave. The ones with the screws in the end actually came with up to 7 blades like a seven day set and look very similar. Most of these you see are Swedish. The top could be a brass or copper. You'll know by how quick it tarnishes. Very nice pick up. I had it on my watch list in ebay......lol. Lynn
