I know that the main diffrence is the width of the blade but I was wondering if the edge itself is actually at a sharper angle or if the spine is thicker on the wider blades to keep the same angles

The shaving angle is the same, the smaller the size, thinner the back of the razor. I think the width of the razor divided by 3.5 gives the thickness of the back...
