I'd say it was worth it just for the case. If that seller had only used the word "set" in his title, it would have gone higher I bet. ............Jeff

The scales are worth that price even if the blades are bad. Let us know what the blades look like, and weather their salvageable. I say you did good.

Assuming something shows up at your door someday, I'd say that you did great. You could probably sell them as honing practice blades and still make a small profit.

    Default Nice buy Randy!

    Randy,
That is a superb find. As you know, I make knives and keep a "study collection" so I can figure out how things were done and why they were done that way. In terms of a study collection, it doesn't matter too much that the blades are not in the best condition. The whole presentation is what counts!

    Hello Howard!
Glad to see you back posting again!
I did not know that you made knives, stock removal or forged?
I have a friend, Dr. Robert Molenaar, who forges his own knives. he is 84 yrs old and started when he retired at age 75! He now has about 250-300 knives in his home. He does pretty good work.

On Dec 31 I will be going to a smelting/forging hammerin which is being conducted by Dr Mike Blue of Cannon Falls Minnesota. Its a 2 day deal and should be interesting. I hope that he will be smelting some Wootz Damascus,he does that sort of thing, and other steels. He even has his own roller mill! I hope to be taking some pics and posting them.
