    Default Help: Neck Advice?

    Hi all,

I have a question around performing a E-W (ear to chin) pass on my neck.

I've tried having the toe of the blade pointing up, however the contour of my neck makes this impossible to perform without cutting myself.

I've tried a pass similar to that explained by jockeys in his video, almost a scything motion but once again after pulling the skin taut the contours of my neck prevent this from being effective.

I'm currently using a Dovo 5/8th Tortoiseshell special. Is a bigger/smaller blade going to help?

Are there any other methods or advice you can offer?

I've been shaving for years with a straight and have not been able to do a true E-W pass on my it is so deeply contoured. If you use a really small blade like a Japanese Straight you can do it but really its the length that makes it hard not so much the width and even small blades are still pretty close in length. You can try different angles and scything approaches. I've found a blade with a true smile works better on the neck giving better results with a regular N-S or S-N motion.

Thanks for the advice. What razor has a 'true smile' blade, I'm confused?
