Default How long do you take to shave?

How long from the time you step out of the shower to the time you're done shaving (razor put away and after shave on your face)?

I normally shave in under 15 min., but sometimes I take longer (date, job interviews, that sort of thing...). Of course, I only shave as a chore, and I suspect most of the guys here are more into the whole "shave" experience.

I'm a bit on the slow side. I wear my hair on the longer side, so I dry my hair first, otherwise, it's in my face! With a DE, I'm under 20 minutes, but with a straight, I'm extra careful!

A full shave (with and against the grain with cleanup) will take about 15-20 mins, if I take my time - these are weekend only, usually.

On the other hand, my every day shave tends more to be within 10-15 mins, leaning towards 10 minutes.

My regular full shave which I do a few times per week will take me half an hour and I've gone longer. Most trims, like if I've shaved the previous day and just need a smoothing off, that'll take 20 minutes or maybe 15. Certainly trimming around the goatee takes even less time on average.

I've never actually put a clock on it, but I think 20 min. or so is pretty close. That's for prep, stropping, two passes, and sink cleanup. I've only been at this a few months and hope to get better.

I tend to make less errors when I go a bit slower, plus I enjoy the experience. It's 15-20 of "me" time that I don't get otherwise!

I can usually pull off a two pass shave and cleanup my mess in around 15-20 minutes. I do take longer on the weekend, or if I shave at night, just for the extra "me" time.

Here here!!! For me, the typical morning shave is two full passes with a final touch-up. I've gotten to the point where I can pull this off in 20 minutes (exit shower to final cleanup of sink); I'd rather take 30, but by that point my wife starts giving me the evil eye because she needs some help getting our 7-year-old moving in the morning.

I'm still at the point where I'm improving technique pretty steadily. I can easily give myself the same quality of shave in one pass that took 3 passes just a month ago. However, rather than giving up that extra 10 minutes, I'm taking the same amount of time I did then, just working on the quality of the shave. At the risk of angering the shaving gods I think I've gotten to the point where if I do a full blown shave one morning, a quick touch-up the next day would be sufficient for the office/classroom. Good to know if I ever really need to fly out of the house in the morning, but I enjoy the shave too much to willingly skip it in the morning. Does this qualify as obsession?

    Ed,

Boy does that ring true here too. During the week I have a limited time to handle the 3 S's. We have an 11 year old and a 6 year old. Hense I get the same fisheye from my wife.
