Default He had to throw away what?

I know we have brought this up before concerning many of the soaps and creams and aftershaves we use and whether they have a shelf life or not. I recently had to trash the remainder of two 1000ml bottles of trumpers skin food I've had for about 3 years now. They became thin and started to take on an off smell. Then there was the glycerin soap with the rose scent that after a year or so started developing these white round tufts in it which looked like bacterial colonies to me. That went into the trash. Now there's the castle Forbes AS Balm which is beginning to smell kind of funky.

I used to think these things last forever. Now I know better and have changed my idea about rotating this stuff such that each item lasts for years.

Have you had to trash any of your products?

    Hopefully it doesn't.

I guess it makes sense that the stuff can go bad. I've seen people talking about what not to put on strops, because some oils can go rancid.

When I first got into wetshaving, I bought an old Gillette SS from someone on the 'Bay. For a couple bucks more, he included a puck of lavender shaving soap. Homemade, I believe

Smelled nice, and worked okay for a while, but it turned rancid after only a month or two. Gross. Weird, too, since I have other soaps that I've kept in active rotation for over two years now. Not sure I want to know what was wrong with that one.

That sucks, glad I'm hearing about this early on before I collect up a cabinet of supplies. So at least your loss is a gain for some of us here, if that is any consolation.
