    That's bull. They don't need a phone number unless it's express mail. Ask them to give you theirs first and you'll call them to discuss it.

    That doesn't sound right to me either;
    Even when i couldn't "confirm" my address (I lived in a barracks, our mail went to a PO box) I never got told that.

    If your seller is using the Post office website to ship an International package via Global Priority, Global express or Airmail Parcel Post it requires a phone number to complete the form. It is a required field andd you cannot continue without it.
    If you mail in person at the post office it is not required. Just one of the website requirements. I think UPS has a similar clause when shipping International packages. I typically just put my own phone number in that spot too.

    Sadly this is one of the issues that always has me on the fence with International shipping via ebay. Buyers balk at supplying requested info like phone numbers, they ofetn ask me to claim a false value for customs purposes yet want the full value from insurance if the package goes astray.
    The post office website for International is a hassle to use so going to the PO in person has to wait a day or so which slows things and then the buyers are asking why so long. For group memnbers I always offer the International shipping as a favor. For ebay it becomes a greater hassle as those bidders are never like "family" the way you guys are.
