How do you turn off the tweet bar icon to get it out of the way?

Hi,

If you have an ad blocking plugin then you can just block the image so that it doesn't appear.
I did find this thread from a few months ago:
Tweetboard option on/off - vBulletin SEO Forums
I'd also like to have the option to remove the tweet bar.
To get rid of the Tweet slider and the numbered red dot in one go:
1. go to the AdBlock Plus add-on's Preferences
2. click Add Filter (it's at the bottom left)
3. paste the following: straightrazorplace.com##DIV[onclick="return tb_pre_wtb.icon_click()"]
4. click Okay
Guess I should add that you need the AdBlock Plus extension for this method. :)
I haven't seen it yet. Maybe noscript is blocking it
I'd never seen it before today. I don't think I changed anything on my end - it just suddenly appeared. When I clicked it, a panel slid out, but then it just sat there loading - what's supposed to happen?
there's an Announcement
Ah, thanks. Since I can't reply in the announcement, I'll just ask here:
Do you have to be signed in to Twitter to see something? Mine says 18 on the red indicator, but like I said above (in a late edit), it got stuck loading when I clicked it and the panel appeared. I'll try it again...
yohoo its gone :)
works perfect
Anyone have an idea on how to kill this using Safari on a Mac?
Thanks Adam,,,, worked for me.
I think having to install an ad blocker to get rid of the icon is pretty lame... there should be a user preference setting on the forum site to allow the user to turn it on/off.

The tweet bar is gone but now I'm getting a box dropping down from the top middle of my screen asking for my tweetboard login and password. I have to hit cancel four times before it goes away and then it pops up again when I click a link for another page on this site and the whole thing starts over again.
Edit: Here is a screen grab.
It's not interesting -- it's MADNESS!

Now This is a new problem i am getting .
Twitter asks me this and pops up window.
A username and password are being requested by Tweetboard - True Twitter Conversation. The site says: "Access restricted"
Do MOD's now what is the problem?
Thank you
i tried to put my password and user name doesn't accept it at all
same for me!
yes, this is the same for me as well. authentication requested from tweetboard.com, and i have to hit cancel 4 or 5 times on every single page. i guess i'll give it a couple of days and then come back as the board is effectively unusable while this is happening.
i dont want to see any Tweeting unless I ask for that funtion in an options menue, if thats posible and that pop up window is annoying
Let's be patient guys i am sure MOD'S WILL RESOLVE the problem.
i know it just doesn't let you do anything . pops up constantly
I don't have the twitter thing coming up at all and I am very thankful for it. I hated instant messaging too back in the day and disabled that as soon as I figured out how.
I think it's fixed, I'm not seeing that
But now the tweet bar is back.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ations/bow.gif Adam, Thank you very much for telling us how to get rid of that thing. It was really freaking annoying!
ALSO
Why can't I post from Firefox?
Please see the http://straightrazorpalace.com/site-...weet-poll.html.
Ya'll know, don't you, that this recent infusion of technological advancement will be with us forever? The site developers are techno-wizzes and are thus whelmed by this stuff. We the stodgies, the nostalgic, the admirers of old, strong, iron-tough technology, such as, oh a straight razor, are in the overwhelmed minority here.
Learn it; live with it; we are here in the domain of Mach 3 technology.
:soapbox:
Couldn't capture all the text, but here are images of all (I presume) of the other 225 widgets. That's in addition to the 11 that first pop up. So this is a nasty path to go down. There are enough silly little add-ons that the entire page could be covered and *none* of the actual content be visible. Twitter is just the first step!

Technology marches on ever closer to the edge of disaster! A case of Global Widgeting! We have only a few short years to stop this before it reaches a tripping point and ...

Vote to stop this insanity NOW! http://straightrazorpalace.com/site-...weet-poll.html.
And the effect will be very similar to the one described by that cute little icon of yours.
Incidentally, I installed something like that in the Wiki some time ago. But I presume you are talking about a different service?
Kind regards,
Robin
 Too late. It's soon to be everywhere! "Widgets" are hot at gadget show.
Some quotes:Amazon, eBay, Facebook, Netflix, Twitter and YouTube, to name just a few, are among the Web titans which offer the miniature windows that pop up on TV screens while shows are on."Right now we have 25 to 30 widgets," she told AFP. "By the end of 2010, we should have about 100 and then we'll just go up from there.""On TV, what we've found out is that a simple widget doesn't take too much attention away from the TV and it's easy to navigate with a remote," he said. "It's off to the side and covers no more than a third of the screen," [my emphasis] he said.Topped off by this non sequitur:
"TVs are turning the living room back into the hearth of the home," he said.
Bob, that's incredible!
We could use you on the dev force :D
Studying and discussing straight razor shaving on the internet is an amusing idea in itself. Straight razor shaving doesn't really change much, but the internet does. As it changes, or rather as many people change how they use it, it might be a good idea to keep SRP available to them in whatever usefully visible ways available. If we wanted to hide ourselves, we'd kill the website and go back to enjoying the hobby individually
I don't like the tweet bar on my screen, but I don't see any reason why we can't let it be an option for others
Somebody remind me again why this thread exists in a forum dedicated to "General Razor / Shaving Related Discussion ".
That's why I put a third option on the http://straightrazorpalace.com/site-...weet-poll.html.
To a degree... But thanks to technology I have turned it off another way (no-script firefox extension. and I'm sure there are other ways) Sure it's annoying, and I shouldn't have to search for a way to turn it off, but - well, I guess there's no but :)
thanks for that - it's the one I chose when I voted!
The problem is I don't like massive, slow, computer-cluttering browsers. Firefox used to be slim, but now it's a pregnant hippo....
...so now I have to go back to it to get rid of this? I don't think so. It really isn't 'optional' in the slightest. A very specific slice of the population here can get rid of it, but it is by no means a universal ability.
And again, I'm all for having it here for the people who want to use it. I just don't want what I think is equivalent to the Gillette Fusion of human relations to be a forced part of my SRP experience.
AND, while I'm on a role, the only useful SRP related bits I've seen came from Glen. Everything else has been drek about all manner of trivia....
Okay, I'm off the soapbox and officially removing myself from the Twitter discussion. Have fun, guys.
