Get the hones!
They will last you the rest of your life and you will benefit from them everyday. Purchase an 8000 grit Norton 3" wide from classicshaving.com and a Belgian hone from www.the perfectedge.com. or some pasted strops from Tony Miller and the abrasive pastes. A keen edge makes a world of difference.

I ended up getting the 4k/8k Norton and some 1 micron diamond paste from Ray. I'll pick up some of the .5 micron as soon as it is back in stock. Thank you for your input, it was greatly appreciated.
