Useless razor?
I have yet to do my first straight razor shave… that being said I let my wife buy me a couple of razors for Xmas. (SZCO Pakistan)
From what I have read over the last couple of days, I gather that these razors might be better suited for carving statues than shaving face?!?!?! Why do Pakistan razors suck (for lack of a better word) and what would be a better buy? I would like to get the right razor today and start shaving ASAP!
Thanks for your time!!

Just The Thing
Welcome, Morningshow. Sorry to hear about your luck on that non-shaving razorish thing. Superfly sends you in the right direction with those links, but forgets http://www.billysblades.com/Straights.htm . If you like though, I have what I would say is the right blade for you. It's a Henckels #50 which is listed in my folder in the User Gallery. Not only is it a very high quality Solingen razor from Germany with a delicately rounded spike point for excellent shaving comfort for the new shaver, but it will come shave ready for exactly whatI paid for it, $25. It's yours if you want, just Private Message me. Or go with what you find on one of the links listed and you'll be in good shape.

Thanked: 2209To add to the good advice already given.
Make sure the Str8 razor is honed and shave ready. Also be sure to purchase a strop. You should never shave without using a strop first.
