Default Which "Point" do you prefer?

After shaving with a very nice razor I "found" on eBay, I realized that the heavier blades shave better than what I once thought the 5/8 razors would shave like. I have no idea why I came to that conclusion, but it just seemed to me that smaller would be better. My new favorite is a 6/8 no-name blade (Taylor Easy Shaver?) that has a really nice feel and holds an edge quite well. While looking for more 6/8-7/8 blades, I found myself drawn to the notched end W&B heavy blades since I really like the feel of my favorite (yes, I'm looking for a new "girl" )

I was just wondering, which point do you prefer and why?

I voted for round, but aesthetically, I prefer the spike (aka French) point. For shaving, I simply find it easier to not nick myself with a rounded tip. On the other hand, I tend to find it a bit easier to hone the spike point since it is a pronounced 90 degree angle that the honer must work towards. I do have a couple of notched blades, but I don't see any advantage to using them for shaving. They do look cool though.

Watch your earlobes with a spike. They'll jump right out there and take a bite if you get too froggy evening your 'burns. Aside from a little exra caution needed, I prefer spikes myself. Easier to get right up to a moustache or goatee.

The spike is not French point:

    I slightly prefer square points...

While I appreciated the rounded point on my first razor as a noob, it wasn't long before I began to prefer the precision of a spike, especially around the nostril.

Actually I have enjoyed shaving with all points except the square point on a longer blade. You have to be careful when you get into the 3 1/2 inch arena on the square tips as they can dig a nice nick easily if your not careful on the cheek. Lynn

When come to think of it, I would prefer a point when I'd had all the razors (soaps, brushes, kitchen knifes, what not) I want, and stop spending money... But no fun there

You don't have to take Lynn's word on the nicks. I can send pics! Which is why I prefer the round point.
