Default Awaiting my first Str8 DOVO

Over the years I have been interested in shaving with a str8 so I bit the bullet and I ordered a DOVO set. I'm awaiting the fedex truck sometime this week so I was wondering if anyone had a good description of how I should shave and maybe a video... thanks

If you look to the left here you will see the little box titled "main Menu"... In that menu you will find Lynn's video of shaving (under the Video's Link) as well as Brians collection of videos (under the "links" link) on how to hone, restore and shave as well as a wonderful collection of straight razor cameo's in movies past and present.

Smile Yes ALL the Help Files

The Help Files and Links are there as well. You've got some reading to do too. Plus, I was born arrogant, so I think you should reads what I have to say about Creative Visualisation. Take those two pills and call me in the morning. http://straightrazorpalace.com/inthedeepend/?m=200510

I think that video that just got posted, second one on the thread "cool Thiers-Issard video" is the way to shave. Atleast their having fun! And you can see most of the techniques and movement I use for my full shave. I believe the barbers manuals are the most concise resource to review. And ofcourse the discourse by X. LOL

If they're having fun I don't know it. I guess I still need a few codex to read all media files.

    Ahh yes... codec's....

If your having trouble with codec's and/or just dont want to wait for video downloads (most are small.. but if your dial-up or impatient) here is a very nice walk-through from Norbert Schick who is the owner of NassRasur.com. Even with the text translated (it's German) the captions in the photos are still in German so it's a little tricky but the pic's speak volumes on basic technique. Enjoy!
    Norbort's Tutorials

Here is another very brief tutorial from the perspective of a second person shave (shaving someone other than your self), that has a trifle about stropping and honing. However their approach is slightly different than the common approach of most here

Just google "klite codec pack download" It has all you need to open any media file.

    Talking

I apologize if I'm not being clear but I'm referring to the second video in that post, the shaving clinic. Not the old farts making razors, they are definitely just "working"
