Thanked: 0someone to hone
Hello,
I recieved a brand-new straight razor (Fromm 72R) for Christmas and have now idea how to use it in my face. After doing some reading, I stropped the razor with a hanging strop and went to shave. Both times that I have tried though, there has been a lot of pull and very little cutting. Since my razor is brand-new, does it need to be honed, or is it most likely my technique? I am curious of the members of SRP that will hone my razor. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Ryan

Welcome,
Your at the right place to ask. Where did you get the razor from? It probably does need to be honed.

It probably does need to be honed. Last Christmas my wife bought me a new Dovo from The art of Shaving. I thought since it was new it was shave ready. Well it wasn't it needed to be honed. It was a great shaver after that.

Its unfortunate but true...check in the vendors section and if your lucky maybe Lynn will be willing to hone your razor for you. My razors honed by him always seems to have the best bevels. You can PM him too, he is adjustme69 I think. Might as well pay for the best.

You may not know it yet, but you're already hooked.
As a newbie, don't be afraid to ask any questions you have. They will all get answered. The members out here are awesome! Since I've been out to this site, I haven't gone anywhere else.
