    Default 2-Year Straight Shaving Anniversary!

2 years to the day (appropriately enough, my birthday) I ran an ultra-sharp pice of steel over my visage! Since then, I've acquired several ADs (RAD, HAD, SAD, SCAD, ASAD), learned to hone my own razors competently, tried loads of honing setups (finally zeroing in on what seems to work for me), experimented w/ lots of aftershaves, scuttles, strops, & picked up loads of info from this place!

Mike_ratliff: I still have the 5/8 w/ bone scales you sold me (my 1st straight) & it's a great shaver!

break out the champaine.. you are 11 or so months ahead of me. i wish i had started 30 years ago. who would of thought that pushing a very scary sharp piece of steel across your throat would be so much fun?but its my scared time . i guess part of the apeal is that iam now too old to try base or bungy jumping and have avoided run ins with the law in the last 30 or so years. so now in my bathroom i can still beat death every day and feel more alive for doing so.and yeah the thought of saving money not buying the blades or cheap bics has turned out to be not true hones , strops, and more razors than i could wear out in 1000 years are now paid for.i got more than i need but not near as many as i want. so what is your best shaver after two years? iam loveing my wedges so smooth.best strop? hone?

Congrats! I am coming up on my third anniversary here in a couple weeks. Still loving it as much as the first day. To celibrate I have a new scuttle coming in, and several soaps, creams, and aftershaves that I have wanted to try, along with a Friodur from Stimpy52.

    Happy Birthday as well!

    Talking

cualot: best strop: hard to say--I have an SRD premium 3 & a TM horsehide/linen. Both are great. Best hone will be a Shapton 16. Best razor: probably a 6/8 Sheffield wedge, but I haven't tested that W&B I honed yet...
    Best scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik LK!

    Congratulations!

I wish I could remember the exact date I started. Hell, I cant even remember the exact year. Somewhere between '92 and '94 ...I think
