Thread: Old TI razor - worth anything?

Get rid of this razor immediatly! Sen it to me and I will gladly dispose of it appropriately. Sen me a buck for my trouble.

Nahhh You wouldn't want that one. I will be glad to take it off your hands and give it a good home.

I think you should treat it nicely either way. Maybe worth about $60-80 on Ebay. . . maybe less, maybe more. Its not so valuable that you need to put it in a safe somewhere. I'd get it honed and shave away. Just my opinion, I don't see anything specatular about it. Its in good shape though.

Considering that I paid $10.00CDN for it, I guess I didn't do too badly The seller had it with a bunch of trinkets. At the time, I didn't know that TI was a respected name in straight razors. I knew the name because of my passion for knives, and knew that their knives were generally good. The guy was asking for $15, but immediately accepted my $10 counter-offer. I figured that it had to be worth at least that much. I was quite pleasently surprised when I looked up the brand on the net (that's how I found this forum, by the way).

Being a knife enthusiast, straight razors have always represented the ultimate in terms of sharpness. I'd been thinking of getting one for a long time now.

So OK, I'll use it.

Glad you found us Guy,
Having spent some time with knives, you'll probably pick up honing easily enough, but realize from the start that it is a much different technique than is used for knives and the hones are much finer as well. The hone of choice around here is the Norton 4K/8K combination.

Read a bunch, feel free to ask questions (even if you don't do a thorough search first ). As you've already noticed, the guys (and girls) on this forum are great.
