Thanked: 4942Visit With Ray
Hi Guys,
Back from a really nice weekend and a chance to spend some time with
Ray and Laurie DuPont. I also got to meet his daughter Danielle and
her man Will. Danielle gots a brand new awesome Mini Cooper!!! Ray
was looking pretty good and able to get around, but had just gotten
over a couple of bad days. We got to talk a ton about life, straight
razors, Classic Shaving, honing as well as getting in some prime
drinking and cigar smoking activities. I found out that Ray and I
both liked Breakfast Jacks and yes we did get to indulge....lol. We
even honed up a few razors and had a Shave In. Ray's place is really
cool. It is one of those cool places where you just feel at home.
Did I mention the huge HD TV? Did I mention the outstanding Old
Spice Collection? You can sit on the back porch and see the
Mountains, enjoy the out door fireplace, play pool or hang in the hot
tub. Little chilly right now though. I can't begin to thank Ray and
the family for picking me up from and taking me to the airport,
showing me around Palm Springs, all the hospitality and for being so
gracious. Sushi was pretty good too.
One of the absolute highlights for me was the tour of Classic
Shaving with Ray. You guys would not believe what an operation this
is. I have never been surrounded by so many razors, shaving
necessities and grooming supplies in my life. Ray has this company
set up to go on for the next hundred years. It is set up like a
distribution center of the highest quality and being an old
insurance guy, I have seen a few in my time. It is tops and I could
see why Classic Shaving is so successful and will continue to be so.
YOU DA MAN RAY!!!!
When Ray and I were talking, he expressed his sincere appreciation
for all the kind words, well wishes and prayers from you folks. It
is really special to see this from an environment that you were a
part of getting started and Ray has been there and not only had the
vision from the start, but in many cases was the vision from the
start.
At this point, Ray has Oxygen for the evenings and a bunch of
medications. I hear he is going to get some medicinal herb
too......... Oh Yeah!!! He has the Hospice folks in as well and is
in good spririts. He seems quite prepared for where he is going.
Ray did indicate that he was going to try to get one more message in
for us if possible. I'll be looking forward to reading it.
It is obvious to me that Ray has approached everything in his life
with bravery, honesty and integrity and this is no exception. It has
been an honor and priviledge for me to know you Ray and I will
cherish the time you and your family shared with me forever.

That's touching.
It sounds like you had a really great visit! High-definition TV? Cigars? Alcohol? Hot tub? Straight razors and accessories? I hope to have a similar pad some day.

Thanked: 0Although I know Ray would not want it, I feel so sad to hear of Ray and his family going through such a heart wrenching experience. Thank you, Lynn, for keeping us current on Ray's status. He and his family can count on my prayers.
That said, he sure seems to be handling his situation with great courage and grace. I could only hope that I would be such a man in a similar situation. God Bless Ray. We're rootin' for ya' all the way.

Sound's like a great way to spend the weekend in the desert
I'm glad to hear Ray's spirit is elevated as much as can be expected, and that he obviously has a great group of peers and family at his side.
Godspeed Ray...

Ray
Thanks Lynn for sharing your weekend with Ray. I know that he appreciated your coming out to be with him. It is nice to have friends like you that will do that.
It sounds like you had a good time with him and his family. I bet the tour of Classic Shaving was pretty neat. The stay in his home sounded spectacular. It is too bad that this is happening maybe he can get several people in heaven to start shaving with a straight razor. lol
