    Default Newbie Update

On Christmas, I started shaving with the straight razor. This was after months of preparation - reading everything here in the archives and help files, watching the videos, looking at the various sites, etc...

I just wanted to give the experts that helped along the way an update - after almost a month of practice, I'm an "exclusive" straight shaver. No more disposable blades at all. The troublesome chin that I had so many problems with early on is now just as smooth as my cheeks! I'm certainly no "honemeister," but I have successfully worked the Norton on the new Dovo to bring it to very "shave-ready" condition. Slow and steady...

Newbies - I can't describe the feeling of pride the straight shave gives. Keep at it and each day you will learn something new. Maybe an angle, or a new hand position. Something will happen every day, until you are saying, "wow - I haven't used a cartride in over a week!!"

Keep at it - and once again, THANKS to the experts!! Us "newer folk" are here, reading each word, taking it all in - even though we don't chime in all the time!!

scotch? beer?!#@ you are sissies. For crist sake, the man just had his first straight shave!!! The only apropriate drink is a queich full of bull's blod, while dancing with seven virgins around the 10 foot fire at fool moon. Now, that's how it's done!
