The TSA is not entirely clear on this: TSA: Prohibited Items

They say razor blades not in a cartridge, but excluding safety razors are not OK in carry-on. It amazes me they construct such wonderful sentences, but I guess it's crystal clear to the TSA boys&girls in line with their PhD's in English. So is a blade OK or not? Or only in the safety holder? Which is of course not the paper/cardboard/plastic packaging they come in.

    Hilly,

Remember, they are not razor people, they dont speak the language. When they say "safety" razor, what they are saying is "disposable" razor.

I promise you, any blade brought as carry on, be it a DE, or a STR8, will at the very least be confiscated, if not you also being confiscated as well!

Words of wisdom. I fly very, very seldom, but when packing I always try to imagine the worst construction that the most dogged and punctilious TSA agent could possibly put on any item I'm considering. Because I prefer to travel with just one carry-on bag, I have an old Gillette Trac II razor that I pack for flying.

Ok, why not just go to a drug store and buy some DE blades when you get to your destination?

If you are going to get a crappy shave with a Mach anything, why not get a crappy shave with something you like? And, maybe you won't get a crappy shave at all.

I wasnt even sure if they still sold DE blades around here. I just popped into the pharmacist and looked, and sure enough, Wilkinson blades. I should pick up a pack, just so I can put dads old razor to use now and then for shits and giggles.
Alembic, I am embarased to not have thought of that myself. *bows in stupid and humble repose*
