    Default I want to know...

How many of you , who have been shaving with a straight for 1 year or more , hone your own razors , and how many do not . For the record I've been doing this for 3 years , and I've been honing my own from the get go , although I have 5 razors that were shave ready when I got them .

Honing my own from the get go with help from The Topher, Lynn, Randy and others. To me they go together like a horse and carriage. One reason I have so many razors is that I am addicted to honing.

You have introduced an extreme amount of bias into your poll by placing it in the honing section. If you were to place the same poll in the general shaving discussion, I'll bet the results would be much different.

For the record, I was only shaving with straights for about a month and a half before I got into honing.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

I think I started honing about 6 months in or so. Initially I learned from reading on the forum, later met JoeD and CarrieM and even got to sit with Lynn at a WNY meet and his place.

I at least try to hone my own razors. I have had some razors that makes me think I'm a competent honer, but then I also have many other razors that I am working on trying to convince myself that I know how to hone.

I think many of use go through that. I just think of Babe Ruth. He didn't hit a home run every time he went to bat but he kept on swinging. Some times I get it right from jump street and others I have to keep trying. My batting average is improving though.

Mark me down as another like that. Some are so simple that delusions of competency set in. Then along comes one that has me scratching my head over it for weeks. Fascinating sport isn't it?.

If you send a PM to one of the mods with a request to move it they might accommodate you.
