Default I got it! I got it!

Okay, not like I'm a little excited, but I recieved my Dovo from Lynn today (or from Ray via Lynn). I can't wait to try it tomorrow, and not shave with the FROMM hair shaper any more.

    Thumbs up

Remember, beard prep and a good stretch will give you a good shave every time.
I suspect you'll like the 'feel' of the straight quite a lot.

Default Well, crappy would be an understatement

I don't get it . Blade wasn't nearly as sharp as I had expected. I did three passes on my cheeks (okay, four to be really honest), and I accomplished very little. My electric razor works just as well, and the cheap Pakistani blade I got off of e-bay was as sharp as this is.

I'll try several passes over the diamond paste tonight and see if it improves, but I am extremely disappointed. I was suspicious last night when I tried the "hanging hair" test and it didn't seem to work. I just figured that I did something wrong.

Hate when that happens. Send it back with postage on me. Did you strop the razor? I've seen all kinds of fun, from someone holding a razor at 90 degrees to rolling the edge on the strop. Keep in mind that I actually shave with every one of these before it leaves my hands and they don't leave if the don't shave. We'll see what we can do to help you out. Lynn

    jleecbd,

You must have stropped it wrong. When Lynn hones a razor it is scary sharp. I still have a wedge he honed for me 9 months ago and it can still rival my best razors for shaving.

Actually I didn't strop it as I recall Lynn telling someone that you don't need to strop it when it comes from him until after the first shave. Perhaps my bad, in which case I'll just strop it up tomorrow and see how it does.

I just got my razor back from Lynn yesterday (thanks Lynn!) and it's scary sharp. A machine-made blade like the Fromm or Feather is probably sharper than any conventional, but too sharp in my opinion. A brand new replacable blade cuts the hell out me if I use the least amount of pressure. Maybe the new guy doesn't lather well enough or maybe the angle is askew.
