Default Well, crappy would be an understatement

I don't get it . Blade wasn't nearly as sharp as I had expected. I did three passes on my cheeks (okay, four to be really honest), and I accomplished very little. My electric razor works just as well, and the cheap Pakistani blade I got off of e-bay was as sharp as this is.

I'll try several passes over the diamond paste tonight and see if it improves, but I am extremely disappointed. I was suspicious last night when I tried the "hanging hair" test and it didn't seem to work. I just figured that I did something wrong.

Hate when that happens. Send it back with postage on me. Did you strop the razor? I've seen all kinds of fun, from someone holding a razor at 90 degrees to rolling the edge on the strop. Keep in mind that I actually shave with every one of these before it leaves my hands and they don't leave if the don't shave. We'll see what we can do to help you out. Lynn

    jleecbd,

You must have stropped it wrong. When Lynn hones a razor it is scary sharp. I still have a wedge he honed for me 9 months ago and it can still rival my best razors for shaving.

I totally agree with Rich. My first razor was from Lynn and it was SHARP and ready to slice and dice. Stropping correctly is not as easy as it looks. You can really screw up the edge very fast stropping incorrectly.

Keep at it and you'll notice a difference after a while.

Actually I didn't strop it as I recall Lynn telling someone that you don't need to strop it when it comes from him until after the first shave. Perhaps my bad, in which case I'll just strop it up tomorrow and see how it does.

I can't imagine what happened to your razor, since you didn't strop it. Any razors I've gotten from Lynn were ready to go when I opened the package. Since the Fromm was working for you, I assume your basic skilss are OK.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the blade angle was too flat or you needed a little pressure. Str8s tend to require a little compared to a disposable blade razor. The disposables can also be used a little flatter than a str8.

On the hanging hair test, I've never gotten it to work for me regardless of who honed the razor. My hair is just too fine.

I was using pretty much the angle that I used with the FROMM, so I'm not sure. I think I'll strop the razor in the morning and try it again. If that doesn't work, I'll send it back to Lynn to check out.

Or, Lynn, should I just send it back regardless?

I was getting ultra close shaves with the FROMM, so that is definitely what I was looking for.

Actually the razor Lynn honed for me was so sharp I have a 3 inch reminder everytime I look closely in the mirror. The story is too long, lets just say never shave with a razor honed by Lynn in a full house with your pants off

That sounds like VERY good advice.

That's why I was so surprised that this didn't seem as sharp. I think I'll strop it tomorrow, and try it at a steeper angle - Lynn in his video seems to shave steeper than I do - and then if that doesn't work, send it to Lynn to have a look at. I much prefer the weight of the blade, so I don't want to go back to a disposable if I can avoid it.
