Actually the razor Lynn honed for me was so sharp I have a 3 inch reminder everytime I look closely in the mirror. The story is too long, lets just say never shave with a razor honed by Lynn in a full house with your pants off

That sounds like VERY good advice.

That's why I was so surprised that this didn't seem as sharp. I think I'll strop it tomorrow, and try it at a steeper angle - Lynn in his video seems to shave steeper than I do - and then if that doesn't work, send it to Lynn to have a look at. I much prefer the weight of the blade, so I don't want to go back to a disposable if I can avoid it.

I just got my razor back from Lynn yesterday (thanks Lynn!) and it's scary sharp. A machine-made blade like the Fromm or Feather is probably sharper than any conventional, but too sharp in my opinion. A brand new replacable blade cuts the hell out me if I use the least amount of pressure. Maybe the new guy doesn't lather well enough or maybe the angle is askew.

Thanked: 4942You can try to strop it, but in any case no problem just sending it back. Not a big deal and I'll be more than happy to take care of it. Postage on me as indicated. Lynn

And a definite thanks Lynn. A gentleman and a scholar and all that.
I ran the blade through my arm hair and it seems sharp, so I'm going to try some adjustments tomorrow and see if I can't improve the shave. Sorry if I came off grumpy earlier.
BTW, I just received my loupe - anything I should look for under it? The edge seems in good shape, but I don't know if there is somethig in particular I should be aware of.

Thanked: 2209Be sure to understand that you MUST! strop just before every shave, 30-50 laps. Not the night before either. The general rule for the angle is two spine widths away from the face. This is the starting point.
Lynn, you are most generous with the new guys.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Randy,
Quick one I have stropped the night before with no ill effects. Why do you feel you have to do it before shaving?
