    Default Hanging Strop Question

Got ClassicShaving's "Best Russian Leather Strop" in the mail today. I hung it up in the bathroom, but the only place to do that is a towel rack that's right above a vent in the floor.

Do I have to worry about it drying out, or is it dry enough already that nothing will happen to it? A bathroom can get really humid from shower steam and then there's the other extreme...

    Any thoughts?

I've seen this discussed before, and the consensus is that humidity is not a good thing. I have mine hanging from my bedroom door knob...held in place witih a radiator hose clamp.

I have had my Dovo strop hanging off the bathroom door for the past year. No problem noted. It is always ready when I am.

It's not the being moist that causes problems, so much as the damp, dry, damp, dry combo. You keep going from one extreme to the other and the leath expands and contracts until it cracks. You might want to find another location.

I really don't anticipate any problems. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had a strop of theirs damaged. I mean, the leather on it is very tight and smooth, so I imagine it will be pretty resiliant. What I will do is move it away from the vent. No one takes any really long showers, anyhow.

Get some Fromm strop dressing. If it feels like it's getting dried out apply a thin coat with a rag to revialize it.
