That's exactly what I experienced. After using the 1000 and 6000 King stone I normally don't use the 8000, but the blue Belgian stone instead, because the egde is just finer, especially when I use the Belgian with lather instead of water.

Thanked: 0I am with you all the way. I have honed with the 4/8K norton and then moved on to the 12K shapton, then stropping.
My limited experience is that I should hone on the 4/8K norton, then strop, then shave, then stropp, then shave, then stropp again and now I have my prefered edge and prefered shave.
I think I can skip the 12K shapton and be happy.
The first couple of shaves might be a little rough, but the improvement is in the stropping.
Just my thoughts and experiences, I suggest you play around and change methods to find whats works best for you.
