Now I'm really nervous. Not only is this little Geneva 6/8 going to have to compete with some serious steel, but I'm pitting my still-developing honing skills against a spectral Misseur Thiers.

Of course, if Kevall finds that my razor shaves and the Thiers doesn't...

For the record I shaved with the TI 3 times before I even got my strop. The first shave (being it my first straight razor shave period!) felt "gently abrasive" something similar to if I try shaving with my Mach 3 without showering first. I got the closest shave of my life except for the areas where I kinda chickened out on and lifted the razor. The second shave was "mildly abrasive", third distinct pulling. I've since gotten a Dovo strop and stropped it up, it's back to "gently abrasive". Now for all I know this is how a straight razor is supposed to feel. That's where Josh, and the Geneva come in, no pressure . Because likely that will be my benchmark for what a straight razor shave should feel like.

My guess from comments about shaving overall on this forum, my TI could stand a dozen or so swipes on a hone then a dozen or so on a strop. I have little doubt it has the ability to be a first class shaver. None of the complaints I've read about other's TI seem to apply to mine, thankfully. It's centered, even, not a mark on it (would like to keep it that way). Which is where the other razor Josh is selling me comes in. With any luck I should be able to clean it up, then hone it into fine shape myself. With the goal of making it an equally nice shaver.
And lastly my ebay picked up Wade and Butcher (possibly wedge ) which I'm going to polish up and FUD has so kindly offered to hone it for me for free. Which will be my second benchmark of quality.

So in a month's time I went from zero straight razor's to 4, one being a learning blade, and one being something I'm pretty well scared of messing up.

Josh, last time I checked spectral spirits can't move things to well, so I think you are safe there.

And "Kevall", I use Kavall so I don't get into the Stacy, Stacey, Staci, guy/girl debate, and I get people calling me Kevall. lol.

YEAH ......... but don't call me SUE !!!!!!!!!!! One other thing about the TI Pierre is that usually for some reason, these come pretty close to shave ready and with just a couple of 1-3's one the Norton and either a little pasting or Coticule pass should get you there. Once shave ready, different shape and all, they are extremely nice shavers.

    Have fun.

    Lynn
