Well said...LOL, anyway Johnny, some strops don't have a pronounced draw feel to them. Some have a very, very subtle feeling of draw. Its a sense of feedback which will greatly help you work through correct stopping. After a while if your using a strop which does not produce a draw you'll start to feel the razor draw, but its a different feel, like the edge is simply flat on the strop. You can't actually feel a razor is "flat" but your brain will read the feeling as you holding the razor flat. With practice all razors will feel like they are drawing, but the sensation is very, very subtle. Makes it harder to learn with. Takes longer to sense when your stropping, as opposed to mechanically just moving the blade up and down a piece of leather.

Thanked: 4I'll second that explanation from AFD. My best shaves have been when the razor grabbed and hissed when stropping. I frequently find that this is more likely to happen after some passes on the .5 pasted side.

Thanked: 0I think draw best describes resistance or friction. I can get some strops to draw and others, mainly the dovo to just polish.
I am in the process of ordering one of the Tony Miller Stropps and will comment again later.
