No luck at antique stores.
My wife said she wanted to spend the day looking for an antique piece of furniture her mom offered to pay for (for my wife's birthday) so I said great why don't I chauffeur you around and spend the whole day shopping antique stores with you. Not only do I get credit in the husband bank, I sneakily get to check every antique store in town for potential straight razor finds.
10 stores and not a single razor in any of them! An entire day wasted. Woops I mean well spent with the wife lol.

Yeah, that stinks, but it does happen.Don't give up,though, that next nice haul is still out there and all the times you didn't score will make it all the sweeter when you do.Plus, those wifey points can come in handy!

With the popularity of straight shaving on the rise I am also finding less and less straight razors at antique shops. It's not that they aren't around, just that they are flying ff the shelves! One antique dealer told me she sold more shaving items in the last 5 months than she sold in the past 20 yrs! Well, at least they are not rusting away somewhere.

Heh well I can't really afford to buy one right now anyways, I was just hoping to happen on to one of those crazy "oh you want that silly razor laying in that box of junk, sure take it for 5 bucks" type deals you sometimes find in antique shops and markets. Sounds like dealers are probably wise to the resurgence though and that's an unlikely event that will have to remain confined to my dreams heh.

Dreams do sometimes come true and not all people selling razors are asking the world for them, but many are. I believe we make our own luck.

I've only come across 1 shop that had any.
Finding DEs is not problem. Lot's of those about.

Unfortunately, our stores have plenty of razors, but they're almost always in VERY poor condition. I've cherry picked through most of the shops.

Thanked: 21I know this is an old thread, but I find it very relevant. I've scoured each and every antique shop in a 30-40 mile radius from where I live. There were only a handful of stores that had straight razors for sale. One shop had about 6 or 7 including a double duck for $85.00 in good condition. It was the only one worth my time. I'm looking for more common razors in decent condition, but they are few and far between. It was very frustrating. I'm giving up on Antique shops. The ones that are for sale are in poor condition, and the dealer is asking far too much money. Better off looking at eBay I guess. I'm going to hit flea markets next.
Has anyone had any luck at Knife shows? Just wondering....
Craigslist has had a few for sale in my town, but it's been a while since any have come up.

Thanked: 39If you can find a listing of the antique stores in your area I would give them a call first and ask the if they have any, scored a Krusius Brothers XB extra that way. Btw, picked up a nice G. Wostenholm&Sons at a Gun Show about 3 weeks ago. Going to a Gun Show in Biloxi, Miss this weekend to check things out.
