Wade and Butcher History
So I won this blade on e-bay for about $11, and am curious about W&B razors - history, how old this might be, etc.
At any rate, I received it a few days ago and aside from some corrosion that I've made some progress on (it will take some time to get it back to pristine shininess), a few hundred passes on my Dovo paddle strop has turned it into a great shaver. I obtained it to be an inexpensive travel razor that if I lost it, I wouldn't be too upset. Now I'm not so sure if I want to use it for that

I should point out that the case doesn't belong to the razor, but I don't think the seller realized it. The case was for a German made razor, and this is definitely from Sheffield.

Damn...I bid on that one, too. Then I realized I was broke, and was glad when I lost. . It really is a nice one, and I want to add a W&B to my collection when I'm not so po'.

jleecbd, great razor. Check out the X-man's pics here on the site. He's got a Wade and Butcher that is one of the nicest razors I've ever seen. I liked it so much, I had to PM him about it and inquire where he got it. I'd like to add one to my collection too.

Thanks Bill
What, you mean this? Yeah, I know. Go here!
According to uniclectica;
WADE, ROBERT
Sheffield 1810 - 1818
WADE & BUTCHER Successor to Robert Wade;
Sheffield 1818-1890
BUTCHER, BROWN & BUTCHER Succeeded Wade & Butcher?
Sheffield 1827 - 1830
WILLIAM & SAMUEL BUTCHER?WADE & BUTCHER?Eyre Lane,
Sheffield. circa 1845 to at least 1919?1830 - ?
Seems the name changed a few hands over the years.
