Thanked: 0List of known, quality brands
I was just thinking, as we have a list of dodgy ebay vendors, couldn't we have a list of dodgy (and good) brands so people know what they are looking for has been heard of and verified as decent (maybe with price you paid). For example, there is a Kropp on eBay (UK) that looks tempting but I have no idea if it is a decent brand or not.
Any thoughts?
Can I start it?

Well, in this case it's better to make list of not good razors, since marketing names, and companies that made good razors are plenty. Everything coming from Solingen, Sheffield, Spain (Filarmonica's) and Sweeden would be a safe bet...

It should be pointed ou tthat the Rockwell Solingen is not actually made in Soingen. They just ripped of the word for their name to try and inherit unwarranted credential.

Randy Tuttle's Website
Max,
Randy has a small list on his website along with questionable ebay sellers. Check here: http://home.comcast.net/~randydance/...le_Razors.html
Also, I vaguely recall a thread in the forums somewhere to the same effect.

I have experience with two names on that list, wowzers and alwaysgood. Both sellers' products were not good. Alwaysgood had decent service and speed (although the product still sucked), but wowzers was very slow and the product was horrible. Never again. Bizmarke and Hanksbarn sold me a really nice product with great service, communication, and speed. I got a near mint Clauss from Bizmarke and a really nice old Robeson from Hanksbarn.

Thanked: 0i would say in my opinion the best of the best is dovo. I am using Kamisori now and its good compared to many other brands for the price and ofcoarse anything out of Solingen is well worth the $.

A lot of people seem to think the TI Razors are slightly better than Dovo (although I'd prefer to buy German than French). Some folks like Sheffield razors better (there's a large contingent of Wade & Butcher devotees here) I got in a serious row with an ebay seller concerning Kamisori. I found out they're Korean, rather than Pakistani, but based on what I've seen, they're both garbage. Your experience is obviously different.

I haven't tried the Kamisori razors. I've heard bad things about them, but I haven't actually tried one. I did get a Kamisori strop, though, and it was the biggest POS I've ever seen. Seriously, it looked like a drunk mongoloid made it. That was enough Kamisori for me. Don't get me wrong; if you like 'em, use 'em. I'm just not willing to fork over my money for anything Kamisori or Zeepk. Besides, for what I can pay for a new Kamisori, I can get at least one Boker, Clauss, or even a W&B (if you can find the right deal), and have a waaaaay better product. I have about 15 razors now, and my Clauss is probably my favorite. That, and a new Dovo.

Thanked: 0well, i bought a Kamisori razor and a strop and its not as poor quality as you describe it, not saying your wrong but this is just my experience... with regards to other brands in the same price range, i can't find any other razor that is NEW with equal quality as Kamisori in my opinion...I rather shave with a new razor over some old, rusty one.
