Thread: wider or narrow blade?

what would be a better type blade to shave on a guy like me with thicker facial hair then the average joe... wider blade razors or a more narrow blade. TY

Wider, usually 6/8 is what is preferred for gentlemen in your position...

jojo, since you have 5-6 years of experience with various straight razors, and you have payed more than 200$, you can answer that question for yourself...

A wider, heavier blade is generally better for men with thicker, coarser hair. But it is ultimately a personal decision. My facial hair isn't terribly thick, and I still think I get a better shave with a wider blade.

Though, if you are using one of those Kamisori blades or whatever, your problem might be that you need a quality razor that will hold an edge for more than 3.5 strokes.

I think it depends. I use anywhere from 3/8 to 7/8 depending on situation. After a close shave the next day I might use a 3/8

I think its more a personal decision and what your comfortable with. Sharp is sharp and a narrower blade will shave as good as a wide blade.
