Exclamation Just ignore anyone trying to promote Kamisori or other Pakistani razors

The title says it all. He is here to peddle useless stuff. I suggest we move on and ignore him.

I don't know if I would characterize the blades as "useless." I'm sure they would be quite adequate to, say, chop onions. And, one could always remove the scales and use them as tomato spikes...

Not completely useless, they do generate revenue for the one seller on e-bay. Here are the stats for past three months. Just one seller: wow-zers, these numbers include a few kamisori strops.

    Nov 29, 2005 to Dec 28, 2005
Total Sales: $1,204 Average Sold Price: $25.61 Total Listings: 86 Total Bids: 68 Sell-Through: 54.65%

    Dec 29, 2005 to Jan 27, 2006
Total Sales: $1,541 Average Sold Price: $30.22 Total Listings: 113 Total Bids: 60 Sell-Through: 45.13%

    Jan 21, 2006 to Feb 19, 2006
Total Sales: $1,709 Average Sold Price: $31.66 Total Listings: 90 Total Bids: 65 Sell-Through: 60.00%

    Looks like business is up.

Probably a symptom of straight-razor inflation. Prices on total junk are up.

He gave me my money back on that POS strop. He seemed shocked that I didn't think it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. In fairness, he did behave gentlemanly towards me, and had no problem with a full refund. I honestly couldn't believe anyone would sell what I received in the mail. Truly, ignorance is our greatest enemy. I was ignorant when I ordered it, but learned rapidly when I got my refund. You'd think with the feedback this guy gets, he really is selling a good product. I think his sales are a product of people who really don't know any better.

So Joe, what happened? Did you get the strop and just know it was a P.O.S. or what? Did it not strop? Was it really small? Ive never seen a pic of one of those strops.

This guy is selling razors for around $30 bucks each? Wow...gotta love Ebay huh? I saw a guy selling a time machine about six months ago. He said somthing like "instantly moves you into the future one hour" and later in his description something like "takes 60 minutes to warm up"... LOL

Let me detail the problems with the "strop".
    1. Made out of bad leather. Very stiff. Had a couple nicks and a very large gouge out of the handle area.
    2. The handle wasn't sewn on. The whole strop was one piece, and the handle shown on the picture was actually painted on (with fingerpaint, looks like).
    3. The "swivel" wasn't a swivel at all, but a cheapie clip with a snap-hook on it. The swivel and hook were so corroded they had actually begun leaving corrosion dust inside the plastic the strop was contained in. Imagine an Old Hickory carbon steel kitchen knife left in a container of bleach and tomato juice in the hot sun for a week.
    4. The brand name was written on the leather in marker.
    5. There were ink splotches on the back of the leather.
    6. There were still pencil marks on the "smooth" side (only by comparison to the back side), where whoever made it drew the pattern out in pencil.
    7. Priority mail was promised. I got it in a cheapie envelope that had been cut in half lengthwise, and the side taped shut.

That is why I say the Kamisori strop was a POS.

well, that's just your opinion! I'm glad you were able to get your money refunded. I haven't checked ebay, but what kind of feedback does this guy have?

Actually, his feedback is around 99.8% positive. Maybe I just got a bad one. He did refund my money, though. I can only attribute the positive feedback to people not knowing a good product from a bad one. Again, though, maybe I just got a bad one, but it guaranteed I will never purchase anything by Kamisori again. I might even have to refuse if someone paid me to take it.
